Under the direction of a Supervising Bridge Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining Division of Engineering  Services (DES), Structure Construction’s (SC) practices and procedures pertaining to falsework, temporary structures, temporary supports,  guying, demolition, and related construction activities statewide. Incumbent is the single point of contact in communicating with various railroad  agencies on matters pertaining to the work mention within. Incumbent serves as the chair for SC Temporary Structures Technical Team.  Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid certification of registration as a civil engineer in California. Regular and punctual attendance is  required. Travel may be required on short notice.

• Possession of a valid Driver's License is required when operating a state or personal vehicle on official business in performance of their duties driving to various field locations as required.

• A valid California Professional Engineering license (Civil) is required.

• Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. Failure to submit a Statement of Qualifications will disqualify candidates from the hiring process. 

The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to respond to the questions below, providing information clearly and concisely in  writing. SOQ must be typed and no more than 2 pages, single-spaced, using 12-point font. Resume is NOT acceptable as substitute for SOQ.

The purpose of the SOQ is to describe, in narrative form, how your qualifications qualify you for this position:

1. Describe your knowledge and experience working with temporary structures. Include total number of structures, years of experience with the  subject matter, and provide an example of your involvement.

2. Describe your knowledge and experience leading teams, the objective(s), and your approach to ensuring successful delivery of the  project(s). Include years of experience, type of work, and your role(s).

3. Describe your knowledge and experience developing technical documents or guidance material for work related to construction. Include  years of experience, type of work, and your role(s).

4. Describe your knowledge and experience with quality management systems. Include years of experience, type of work, and your role(s).
