Superior Skilled Trades has a DIRECT HIRE opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a busy and well-established machine shop.  This opportunity offers long-term stability with full benefits and the chance to work with a respected team in the logistics and cargo handling industry.

• Direct Hire Opportunity: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
• Location: Baltimore, MD
• Salary: $30-38/hr (based on experience)

What You’ll Do

• Play a vital role in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery including forklifts, bulldozers, front loaders, and backhoes—to support efficient day-to-day operations
• Perform scheduled maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements) to ensure peak performance
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues
• Use diagnostic software and tools to evaluate and pinpoint equipment malfunctions
• Rebuild, replace, or upgrade faulty components as needed
• Conduct safety checks to meet operational standards and regulatory compliance
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 7 years’ of forklift experience
• Must have your own tools
• Minimum of 4 years' experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in industrial, transportation, port, or logistics environments
• At least 2 years’ experience with diesel engine replacement
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Strong time management, multitasking, and teamwork skills
