RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Architect, implement, and evolve major features and services within the LIMS ecosystem  

  • Collaborate with lab operations, automation engineers, and scientific stakeholders to ensure software solutions address complex lab workflow needs  

  • Develop full-stack applications and APIs that support key lab functions such as specimen tracking, assay execution, batch management, and robotic integration  

  • Shape the future of our LIMS software systems by identifying architectural improvements and scaling strategies aligned with business priorities  

  • Contribute to foundational engineering efforts that simplify integration across lab workflows and support long-term platform stability  

  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to ensure system reliability and business continuity during genetic testing operations  

  • Support peer development through mentorship, thoughtful code reviews, and contributions to technical standards and best practices  

  • Provide clear technical direction and communicate trade-offs and priorities with stakeholders across functions  

REQUIREMENTS  

  • 5+ years of general software engineering experience with 2+ years of experience building backend services and systems  

  • Strong full-stack development skills, with capability across application layers and infrastructure  

  • Experience with technologies such as Python, Django, Kotlin, Spring Boot, TypeScript, Kafka, RMQ, React, AWS, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions 

  • Experience in technical leadership, including driving architectural decisions, setting coding standards, and guiding teams through complex problem-solving for production-grade systems and tools 

  • Familiarity with system observability, monitoring, and on-call production support practices  

  • Clear and collaborative communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences  

  • Experience working in Agile development environments  

  • Ability to translate business goals into scalable engineering solutions  

  • Dedication to continuous learning, mentorship, and knowledge sharing within the team  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Experience in the life sciences, biotech, or healthcare technology sectors  

  • Background in laboratory software systems, especially LIMS  

  • Passion for advancing access and impact of genetic testing in healthcare  

EDUCATION  

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent experience.

Pay Range: $140,000 - 165,000 annually

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. 

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.  Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.  For more detailed information, please  click here
