Shifts will primarily be during daylight/evening hours. The hours are subject to change based on the business needs of the department. UPMC Harrisburg offers a competitive wage, and a generous total reward benefit package. _The Pharmacy Technician is a valued step in UPMC Pharmacy Career Ladder._ _*Applicants will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education*_ * Pharmacy Assistant: ($18.49 - $27.76) * Pharmacy Technician: ($18.89 - $28.39) * Certified Pharmacy Technician: ($19.76 - $29.64) Responsibilities: + Repackage, prepare, and label medications, IV solutions, and non-sterile compounds; perform calculations and complete documentation. + Deliver, transfer, and remove medications across patient care units; ensure pharmacist review before dispensing. + Handle controlled substances per protocol. + Respond to phone calls, assist customers, and manage pneumatic tube station. + Fill and deliver interdepartmental orders; inspect and remove expired or recalled medications. + Operate pharmacy equipment (e.g., dispensing cabinets, computers, fax machines). + Maintain clean and organized pharmacy workspaces. + Complete documentation for medication credits, charges, and logs. + Travel between facilities as needed. + Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and other hospital staff. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Employment experience required (one of the following is required): + Prior pharmacy technician experience + College Degree (minimally an Associates degree) and previous related healthcare experience + Completion of a formal pharmacy technician certificate course + Completion of one full year of education at a college/university with an accredited school of pharmacy and enrolled in coursework working towards a Doctor of Pharmacy degree Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
