Are you ready for a new, challenging and rewarding career that allows you to assist people in making positive life changes? Interested in doing work each day that makes a difference and helps to improve our communities and ensure a safe North Dakota?
The ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is looking for individuals who are confident, assertive, independent, and act with integrity. Officers must use good judgement, utilize and rely on training to maintain composure in emergency situations, maintain constant awareness and be observant of surroundings, work cooperatively with others as part of a high functioning team, follow-through with work assignments and directives, and communicate effectively. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply now!
As a high performing Correctional Officer, you will set an example each day through positive and pro-social role modeling, utilize dynamic security concepts by building rapport, observing, and supervising residents inside our correctional facilities. Dynamic security is designed to keep you, your coworkers, and the citizens of North Dakota safer, and together we will achieve the ND DOCR's vision of healthy and productive neighbors, a safe North Dakota.
To qualify as a Correctional Officer, you need a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to read, write and speak English. Salary depends on experience. No experience? No problem! The ND DOCR will train you.
Preference will be given to applicants with at least two years of experience in corrections, security, law enforcement, military or at least two years of college totaling 60 credits.
Applicants who are residents of ND and eligible to claim veteran's preference must upload a DD-214. Claims for disabled veteran's preference must also include a current statement of disabled status from the Veteran's Affairs Office.
Please contact Jordan Falcon at jorfalcon@nd.gov or 701.934.8376 for more information or to request assistance in the application or interview process.
