To assist the Athletic Director in performing all the necessary tasks in assuring the efficient operation of the Athletic Department in maximizing the positive impact for the students, the school and the community.

Coordinate and oversee the middle school athletic programs. Verifies each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport as assigned and maintain records of such. Assist with the management of the registration program for middle school and high school athletics.

Assist the athletic director in coordination with the athletic office clerk with the following; Assumes responsibilities of Athletic Director when necessary. Assist with supervision of home athletic events (away games as needed). Supervises ticket sales of athletic events and assumes responsibility for the accurate accounting of all money for high school sports and athletic department. Coordinate Bus/Transportation Schedules. Coordinate Fields for Practice and Game Events. Works with the coaches to develop schedules for all athletic events including practice schedules. Makes entries in computer programs (games, rosters, etc.) for all sports at high/middle school. Implements Board policy and administrative procedures for non-school use of playing fields and facilities. Order and coordinate all Athletic Awards for both end of season and end of year. Promotes activities designed to foster school spirit among students for the athletic teams. Coordinate and supervise all home Athletic Event staff. Entries to the MPA (Rosters, Schedules, Tournament info, etc.). Assist with maintaining the athletic webpage and social media accounts. Ensure Webpage is up-to-date at all times for public. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills. Help monitor Title XI compliance. Communicate with offsite facilities as it relates to use by South Portland Public Schools. Sports information and news stories. Communicate with media personnel as it pertains to student-athletes. Keep ongoing records for athletic department. Work to discover new revenue sources for the department and work on cost containment, or authorize expenses using guidelines established by the Department. Help to manage and formulate the budget for the athletic department. Participate in the hiring, evaluating and supervision of personnel. Assist with the maintenance and updating of Athletic Handbooks. Work directly with boosters as it pertains to fundraising, game day events, use of facility space, special events. Communicate with appropriate personnel (assigners, officials, coaches, facilities, grounds crew, police) about game changes. Monitor and ensure all MPA and school athletic policies are followed. Promote the athletic department, games and student events. Travel to away Playoff and Tournament Games (as needed). Information sharing with public and incoming students. Compile, maintain, file, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents including win/loss records, student awards, and scholarships.
Assist athletic director in recruiting, selecting, training, and supervising athletic department personnel and make sound recommendations about personnel placement, assignments, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
