A family in Montclair, NJ is seeking an engaging after-school nanny for their two daughters, ages 5 and 10 years old. The position is Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Additional flexibility is appreciated on days when the children do not have school.
Duties include:
Picking up the children from school daily and providing transportation to after-school activities. Shopping for dinner ingredients and cooking exclusively for the children. Assisting with homework, particularly for the 10-year-old. Managing bath time and bedtime routines. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in all areas frequented by the children, including the downstairs kitchen, playroom, girls' bathrooms, and their bedrooms. Doing the children’s laundry. Handling light household tasks related to the children, such as vacuuming and scheduling appointments.

The ideal nanny for this home is an honest and trustworthy individual with a strong sense of pride in their work and demonstrated personal initiative. An expert problem solver who enjoys engaging and challenging children to think critically and develop problem-solving skills. Calm and composed under pressure, with a caring and compassionate demeanor. A college education is preferred but not required.

The oldest is loving, emotionally observant, and enjoys games and conversations. She is very enthusiastic about participating in activities and likes to be engaged. Her after-school activities include basketball and swimming. She requires assistance with homework, particularly in mathematics, which she finds challenging yet enjoyable. She has a strong passion for cooking and engaging in physical activities.
The youngest is cheerful, humorous, and possesses remarkable intelligence for her age. She enjoys learning new things and is currently practicing sight words. Her interests include reading, drawing, imaginative play, and playing with dolls. She also participates in swimming after school.
About the parents/household :
The parents are both professionals and exemplify kindness, integrity, and effective communication. They are loving and dedicated parents.
Their household embraces traditional values, emphasizing the importance of teaching children proper manners, respect for authority, and reverence for elders. Discipline methods include time-outs and suspension of privileges in response to inappropriate behavior. The family practices their Catholic faith and attends church regularly on Sundays.
